Frequently Asked Questions
How much is the deposit?
For full day coverage (8+ hours), the deposit is $1,500.00. This is required to book your date and ensures I do not book any other events on that date. I also offer payment plans if you would like to break up your payments.
How do I book?
Once you’ve decided that I am the wedding photographer for you (yay!), let me know and I will send over a contract and an invoice, with instructions on how to pay your deposit. You will be able to sign your contract online, and I am always available to answer any questions you might have!
How long have you been photographing weddings? Do you shoot anything else?
I have been photographing weddings as my main style of photography for the past 6 years. I am very fortunate to make my living as a wedding photographer, and am consistently fully booked each season! I shoot approximately 20 weddings a year.
When I’m not shooting weddings, I love to photograph portraits, whether it’s branding, people in love, pets, or something dramatic like fashion. I don’t take on much portrait work during the summer months (other than engagement sessions for my wedding clients) so that I am able to provide all of my time and attention to the weddings I am shooting!
Will you help us with planning our timeline?
YES! In fact, I prefer to - this way we are all on the same page with how much time is allotted for photos/who needs to be where, and when. When you are getting ready to plan the details of your day, I’d be happy to set up a call and assist!
Do you have experience shooting in various lighting situations (for example, a dark/candlelit venue, nighttime or indoor ceremony, etc)?
You bet! With weddings, the lighting situations change so much during the day and evening that it’s important to be well versed in both natural and artificial lighting. While I love using available/natural light (especially for outdoor ceremonies or sunset portraits - so gorgeous!), you’ll often see me using flash and other lighting during the reception or if the weather takes a turn. I’ve photographed everything from nighttime New Year’s Eve ceremonies in the dark of winter to a wedding without power during Hurricane Dorian… I’ve got it covered!
What about backup equipment? How do you keep our images safe?
I always have backup equipment on hand - I have a minimum of 2, sometimes 3 cameras with me at every wedding, along with a wide selection of lenses to cover every situation. With each camera, I record the images onto 2 different cards in case of any technological failure, so your images are backed up right on the wedding day! When your wedding is over and I’m back in my office, your images are then backed up onto my computer in a 2 part system as well as a secure cloud service so that everything is as safe as can be.
How long does it take to receive our images, and will you send us some sneak peeks?
The official turnaround time in your contract is 12 weeks from your wedding date; in the height of wedding season, it may take this long, but it’s totally worth the wait! I try to get my galleries out as soon as I can to each of my couples, and the turnaround time varies depending on my current workload. I edit each image individually and do it all myself (I’m a one-woman show!) which takes a lot of time!
This brings us to sneak peeks… OF COURSE I will send you some! I usually post an image the day after your wedding to congratulate you, and within the week after, you’ll receive a robust gallery of sneak peek images to share with your family and friends.
Can I share our photos online, can we print them, can we do _____?
Definitely! Photos are meant to be shared, printed and enjoyed! I highly encourage all of my clients to print their images; there is nothing quite as special as physical prints, and this allows your photos to be passed onto future generations. Print as many as you please, wherever you like - if you want some great recommendations on where to do so, I am happy to help! More info on copyright and client permissions is available in your contract.
