Halifax Wedding Photographers Nova Scotia Wedding Photographers Atlantic Canada

About Sinead…

I'm a professional wedding photographer based out of Halifax, Nova Scotia, as well as an educator and editor for other wedding photographers in Atlantic Canada. My style is inspired by classic Kodak and Fujifilm film stocks, and my goal is to create images that are true to colour and timeless so that you will enjoy them for decades to come. I have been featured in many publications over the years, some of the most notable ones being Dear Bride, Weddings Atlantic, and LooksLikeFilm.

Working with me is a stress-free experience. I work closely with my couples and planners to ensure the timeline of the day allows for all the necessary photos, while making sure you spend the majority of your day with your guests and loved ones. The only time I’ll do some posing is during family, wedding party, and bride/groom photos - the rest of the day, I will be shooting candid images that will come together and tell your love story.

If you choose a package with a second photographer, be rest-assured that you will receive two professional wedding photographers for your event. I only work with other business professionals with years of experience, and a style that blends seamlessly with my own.

I believe that printed photos are the best way to save your images; that's why you will find archival prints included with every package. Your images are meant to be cherished and displayed, and I hope that this gives my couples a head start to preserving the memories of their big day.

Neither my husband and I had much in the way of experience when it came to getting our pictures taken and both find ourselves very stiff and awkward when put in front of a camera. But when we started working with Sinead we found we were able to relax and enjoy our time in the spotlight. Her style was exactly what I wanted to capture our special day and she did just that. She was clear and friendly and was able to help me out when it came to working around the timing as well as having an excellent eye to capture my dream photos. She has a great personality that let her help us out and coach us to get to that perfect photo that we will cherish forever, while keeping us comfortable and happy at the same time. We couldn’t be more pleased with the photos we have received from Sinead, they blew our expectations out of the water and we will continue to brag about our wedding photos for years to come.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much is the deposit?

For full day coverage (8+ hours), the deposit is $1,500.00. This is required to book your date and ensures I do not book any other events on that date. I also offer payment plans if you would like to break up your payments.

How do I book?

Once you’ve decided that I am the wedding photographer for you (yay!), let me know and I will send over a contract and an invoice, with instructions on how to pay your deposit. You will be able to sign your contract online, and I am always available to answer any questions you might have!

How long have you been photographing weddings? Do you shoot anything else?

I have been photographing weddings as my main style of photography for the past 6 years. I am very fortunate to make my living as a wedding photographer, and am consistently fully booked each season! I shoot approximately 20 weddings a year.

When I’m not shooting weddings, I love to photograph portraits, whether it’s branding, people in love, pets, or something dramatic like fashion. I don’t take on much portrait work during the summer months (other than engagement sessions for my wedding clients) so that I am able to provide all of my time and attention to the weddings I am shooting!

Will you help us with planning our timeline?

YES! In fact, I prefer to - this way we are all on the same page with how much time is allotted for photos/who needs to be where, and when. When you are getting ready to plan the details of your day, I’d be happy to set up a call and assist!

Do you have experience shooting in various lighting situations (for example, a dark/candlelit venue, nighttime or indoor ceremony, etc)?

You bet! With weddings, the lighting situations change so much during the day and evening that it’s important to be well versed in both natural and artificial lighting. While I love using available/natural light (especially for outdoor ceremonies or sunset portraits - so gorgeous!), you’ll often see me using flash and other lighting during the reception or if the weather takes a turn. I’ve photographed everything from nighttime New Year’s Eve ceremonies in the dark of winter to a wedding without power during Hurricane Dorian… I’ve got it covered!

What about backup equipment? How do you keep our images safe?

I always have backup equipment on hand - I have a minimum of 2, sometimes 3 cameras with me at every wedding, along with a wide selection of lenses to cover every situation. With each camera, I record the images onto 2 different cards in case of any technological failure, so your images are backed up right on the wedding day! When your wedding is over and I’m back in my office, your images are then backed up onto my computer in a 2 part system as well as a secure cloud service so that everything is as safe as can be.

How long does it take to receive our images, and will you send us some sneak peeks?

The official turnaround time in your contract is 12 weeks from your wedding date; in the height of wedding season, it may take this long, but it’s totally worth the wait! I try to get my galleries out as soon as I can to each of my couples, and the turnaround time varies depending on my current workload. I edit each image individually and do it all myself (I’m a one-woman show!) which takes a lot of time!

This brings us to sneak peeks… OF COURSE I will send you some! I usually post an image the day after your wedding to congratulate you, and within the week after, you’ll receive a robust gallery of sneak peek images to share with your family and friends.

Can I share our photos online, can we print them, can we do _____?

Definitely! Photos are meant to be shared, printed and enjoyed! I highly encourage all of my clients to print their images; there is nothing quite as special as physical prints, and this allows your photos to be passed onto future generations. Print as many as you please, wherever you like - if you want some great recommendations on where to do so, I am happy to help! More info on copyright and client permissions is available in your contract.
