Allie and Justin’s big day had gone through some major changes before it could happen - including changing the date and venue! Instead of their original plan, this wonderful couple said their vows in their own backyard in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia this fall, which they had spent the summer revamping to create a beautiful space for their guests. They created such an inviting, intimate environment and I loved how cozy and personal it was (I was pretty excited about the relocation - they’re both plant aficionados like me so I was thrilled to get a peek at their collection)!
We first met up at the Dartmouth Commons before their evening ceremony for photos. I was totally blown away by Allie and Justin’s stylish vibes - how seriously cool are they? In lieu of a wedding party, they had their closest friends and family join us for some photos and we lucked out with a remarkably sunny afternoon.
After the family photos, we wandered around the park a little bit for the bride and groom images. I couldn’t be happier with how they turned out, they really made it too easy! Like I mentioned, I’m absolutely obsessed with their style, but I also love all of the unique and DIY elements they included on their wedding day. Allie did her own florals (a mixture of dried flowers, some from their personal garden - and check out that pampas grass!) as well as her own hair and makeup (skills I could only dream of possessing myself). The brocade shirt Justin wore went so perfectly with Allie’s vintage-inspired gown, and her faux-fur cape added even more texture along with some added warmth for the late fall day.
We headed to their home after the photos were done to get ready for their sunset ceremony. After they were officially pronounced bride and groom, there were many congratulations and video calls made while the guests enjoyed some drinks and mingling, along with a few roasts. Dinner was provided by Chef Cameron of Kingfisher Catering and the cake was made by the bride herself (you can find some of her other baked goods on Instagram @cityofcakes_dartmouth). The night was capped off with a bonfire and sparklers - the best kind of send off!
Congratulations Allie & Justin! I hope your wedding day was everything you could have hoped for, and thank you for having me there to capture it for you. Cheers to an incredible pair and a lifetime of happiness!
